Summary:
Susanna Sonnenberg reflects on her life growing up with a mother who is a drug addict, has a personality disorder and engages herself in sexual behavior. Without the actual love and care of a mother Sonnenberg also grows up not having much of a father figure in her life. Sonnenberg wishes to gain a mother and daughter relationship but her mothers addiction gets the worse of her and soon Susy does not want anything to do with her own mother. Despite all the negativity she tries to find love and finish school, she becomes a mother of two boys and marries a husband who has grown to love and respect her. One day she receives a phone call from her sister telling her that their mother is in comma and does not know if she is going to survive. Sonnenberg is hesistant to go and see her mother after everything she has done to her.

Reflection:
Susanna does not feel any remorse towards her mother just like her mother never felt anything towards Susanna. She tried to leave all the remorses aside just like her sister suggested but her decision was final, she would leave her past behind her and continue with her future; her husband and two children.
